Tech Inc is the charity that runs GPN around Australia! They have funding and resources that we coordinate to make it easier for every node to run GPN. Outlined below are what you can expect Tech Inc to provide for your node
Promotional and branded assets
T-shirts for volunteers
Stickers for students
Banner
Table cloth
Lanyards for special roles
Special event resources
Micro:bits or other high-expense, reusable materials that the university partner can’t provide
Miscellaneous budget for enhancing or subsidising the university budget e.g. fidget toys for ADHD kids, special hats for leaders to wear on the day. More information in the expenses page
Allocate, train and support a Node Liaison for your node.
Create an MOU for University Partners.
Provide documentation, policies, procedures and best-practises.
Funding for tutor and committee engagement events. More information in the expenses page
Funding for necessary travel (e.g. to train a new Node Lead or for Node Liaison to support on-the-day). More information in the expenses page
Content resources such as workbooks, slides, computerless games, streaming quiz etc.
Support via the Social Media coordinator to post on GPN pages and groups
Funding and management of Social Media ads via the Social Media coordinator
The exact responsibilities of your University Partner will be dependent on your MOU. Please make sure that you are familiar with it! Below are some things that are typically covered by the University Partner.
Funds and organises Pizza and snacks
Funds and supplies printing of workshop materials
Someone to be there on-the-day or as a point of contact
Event venue, possibly including computers, lecture theatres etc.
Promoting the event to their mailing lists or partners
Purchasing and providing extra supplies such as stationary, name tags, craft supplies for computerless games etc.
Some logistics of running or prepping for the event. This will be highly dependent on your MoU and partnership but could include running the mailing list, handing student registration at the event, etc. or be more hands-off.
The Node Leads are the leaders of the local GPN node. They work with Tech Inclusion and the University Partner to help everything come together and run the events. They typically work with a committee of local leaders to manage the logistics of organising and running an event! Below are the responsibilities of this group of leaders. Note: if your node is newer you may also have a Node Liaison helping as part of this leadership group
Preparing the event (note: this will depend on your MoU with your university partner and what their responsibilities are) e.g. setting up Humanitix event, sending out volunteer reminders etc.
Running the event on day
Training volunteers on the content and the structure and ethos of GPN via a tutor training
Prepare and run engagement events for tutors and committees.
Learn and give feedback on content
Collaborate with University partners, Tech Inclusion, and other GPN Australia leaders to run and improve your GPN node.
