Committee Member Awards

GPN couldn’t run without the dedication, support, and hard work of all of our community, especially those on a committee.

To reward this dedication and say thank you, we have an award program for milestones in years of continuous service.

Awards

Year 1

After 1 year of continuous service on a committee (see eligibility criteria), you are entitled to receive a committee pin, or leadership pin if you are in a committee lead position.

Year 2

After 2 years of continuous service on a committee (see eligibility criteria), you are entitled to receive a GPN hoodie (see hoodie options below).

Further years

We are keen to celebrate milestones for 5 and 10 years of service. Let us know if you have ideas!

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible to receive your committee member award you must meet the following criteria:

• Be a member of a committee (e.g. a node committee, content committee, social media team)

  • Being a member of a committee means significantly contributing to the running of GPN outside of events (e.g. writing content, setting up Humanitix, creating social media posts, sending and responding to emails). This does not include advisory roles and usually means contributing at least 3 hours of work to GPN most months outside of events.

• Have been a member of that committee for a continuous period equal to the award

  • This does not mean that you must attend every event in that period, or that you can’t take breaks.

  • If you step away from the committee for a period of time more than 2 months and less than a year, you can continue counting after you end your break, but the break time does not count towards the period.
    For example, you start at the beginning of 2023, and contribute to the committee for a year and a half until mid 2024, then take a 6 month break to focus on uni and come back at the beginning of 2025, you would be entitled to your 2 year award midway through 2025 (1.5 years before the break + 0.5 years after the break).

• You have not already received this award (e.g. if you are on multiple committees or move to a new node, you cannot receive two hoodies unless an exemption is made)

  • Note, if you have received a 1 year committee pin and then become a committee lead you are eligible to receive a 1 year leadership pin as well once you meet the other criteria in your new role

Your committee lead can contact the GPN Australia leads for an exemption if they think that someone should be entitled to the award but doesn’t quite meet the criteria.

For example, if you want to present awards at the end of year celebration, but a committee member has completed 1.75 years of service and is planning to continue on the committee next year, we can make an exception to order the award early)

How to order/receive

It is the responsibility of committee leads to organise the awards for their committee members and decide when and how they are handed out (e.g. at GPN events, at the end of year celebration, or some other time). However, note that hoodies will be ordered once per year, near the end of the calendar year, to save on cost of production, so bear that in mind when organising.

Committee leads should fill out this form for each committee member that is eligible for an award. The GPN Australia team will then work to check that the eligibility criteria are met or that an exception is warranted and then work on getting the awards sent to you.

In order to reduce cost of delivery, we would much rather deliver awards to a central address (e.g. all node committee awards to a node lead) rather than directly to each member. If you need to have the award sent directly to the committee member, we may reach out to you to clarify why that is.

We strongly encourage handing out awards a GPN events of some kind, whether that’s at the student facing events, the end of year celebration, or tutor bonding. This helps to get the rest of the GPN community involved in celebrating the hard work of our committee members, and spreading visibility of all the opportunities that GPN has for growth.

We are offering a level of customisation for the hoodies. Before you fill out the form please make sure you have checked with your committee member and know what their preference is on style, size and colour.

Sizes

Please refer to the size guide on the style you prefer to figure out the best size for you.

For women’s the sizes range from 4 to 16 and for men’s it ranges from S to 7XL

Colours

We are offering 8 different colours of the hoodie. The neutral colours (white, black, grey, beige) have a coloured GPN logo and the brand colours (green, dark green, blue, dark blue) have a white GPN logo.
