Each node has some base edstem accounts that are used to allow students to access edstem even if they don’t have access to an email account (this would be required to create an account). These accounts can be used many times but will need to be reset so that a previous student’s code isn’t still there when given to a new student. Here are the steps to reset an account.
1. Log on to edstem with an administrator account. If you don’t have one, create an account and ask the National Content Team for access.
2. Make sure that you are in the Lessons section. The Icon looks like an open book with a circle above it.
3. Go into the analytics of the first “chapter” in the edstem course.
The button will look like this (by hovering over the chapter on the home page)
4. You will be taken to a page called “Lesson Overview”. Click on the menu on the right side. Then select “Reset User lesson data”
Select that you want to Reset specific users.
5. Locate the emails of the GPN accounts that you’re resetting from the list displayed. They should be easy enough to recognise (the names should look something like “Melbourne Student 1” or similar). Select the checkbox next to all the users you want to reset the accounts for.
6. A warning pop-up will be displayed. Double check the emails listed are all of the ones you want to reset. Confirm you want to proceed by selecting the checkbox, then click “Reset lesson”. These accounts will now be reset for this chapter of the workbook only.
7. Repeat this process for every chapter in the course. This is a tedious process but will mean that you can reuse the accounts for new students without keeping any of the past code or having to create new accounts.
