For our node liaisons, new node leads, or other GPN leaders who may be travelling to other nodes to help out, learn or train new people, we have budget that covers their expenses.
You must have approval for traveling for GPN before you request a booking. This approval will include how many nights of accomodation will be covered by the GPN budget, and other details such as whether you will be flying or taking a bus (e.g. from Sydney to Canberra).
The flights (if necessary) and accommodation (if necessary) for travel is typically booked by the GPN leadership team. If you are travelling for GPN, please fill out this form to request your bookings and give us all the necessary information.
You will need to make an account to use the portal. If you already have an Atlassian account you can use that, or you can make one with your GPN email address, or with your personal email address.
While traveling, there is also a budget for ground transport (e.g. uber or shuttle to/from the airport) and food. The length and location of your trip will impact these budgets, but typically we allocate $100 for ground transport, and $40 for each dinner we expect you to have on the trip and $20 for each breakfast and lunch (typically if you are going for one night for a GPN workshop, that’s $100 for food, 2 dinners and 1 breakfast and free lunch at the GPN event). When your travel is approved, you will receive the finalised budget for your specific travel.
If your budget differs from what is described here, you will be told by someone on the leadership team.

Sometimes you might decide to extend your stay beyond the days that are approved for your GPN trip. This is completely fine! You have 2 options on how to do this.
We can book the night(s) that are approved, as per the usual process, and you can separately book any additional nights you would like to stay. This would require that you move hotels at some point. To do this option, tick the accomodation booking option in the booking request form and fill it out for the nights we will be booking for you.
You can make the booking for your entire stay and we will reimburse you for the nights that we have approved. If you are going with this option, make sure you understand what the approved budget is. You can choose a hotel that is more expensive but we will only reimburse you up to the approved amount, or for the approved number of nights, whichever is lower. Once you have made the booking, you can submit the reimbursement via this portal.
